Are you looking for an affordable and effective bait option for your next carp fishing trip? Look no further than homemade boilies! This simple recipe uses easy-to-find supermarket ingredients and can be tweaked with any type of berries that you choose. Here's how to make sweet fruit berry boilies at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of polenta
  • 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of soy flour
  • 1/4 cup of milk powder
  • 2 medium-sized eggs
  • Berries of your choice
  • Red food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Measure one cup of polenta and add it to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add half a cup of white granulated sugar to the bowl to add further sweetness to the mix.
  3. Next, measure one cup of soy flour and a quarter cup of milk powder such as Coffee-Mate, and add them to the bowl.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients together using a spoon or your hands. Take your time at this stage to ensure that everything is well blended before moving on.
  5. Crack two medium-sized eggs into a bowl or container. Using a fork, beat the eggs together until the yolk and whites are well mixed.
  6. Pulp the berries using the back of a fork. You are looking for a liquid fruity goo which still has some nice pieces of berry showing.
  7. Slowly start to combine the mashed berries with the dry mix. Use the back of the table spoon to help break up the berry pieces. Don't worry if the mix is dry at this stage as more liquid will be added soon.
  8. Add red food coloring to the mix to add some color.
  9. Gradually add around half of the blended egg mixture as you begin to mix. Continue adding the egg mixture until you are able to reach a dough-like consistency.
  10. Knead the dough with your hands. If the mix is too wet at this stage, add some more polenta to compensate.
  11. After about five minutes, the berry dough should be well mixed and have little bits of fruity mortals scattered throughout. The dough must be moist enough so they can easily be pulled in your hands without cracking.
  12. Take a small pinch of your berry dough and start to roll it between the palms of your hands until it becomes a nice little sphere. Repeat the process until all your dough is used up.
  13. Fill a medium-sized saucepan up with boiling water from your kettle and set the hob to a medium to high heat. Make sure you wait until the water starts to boil before adding your bait.
  14. Boil your baits for a minute or so. You will see them start to float up to the surface when they are ready to come out.
  15. Scoop out and drain the boilies using a small sieve.

Congratulations, you have now made sweet fruit berry boilies at home, ready for your next fishing trip!
