Ingredients:
- 4 cups plain or soy flour
- 4 cups wholemeal bread crumbs
- 2/3 cup dried milk powder
- 1 cup semolina
- 2 cups frozen chopped spinach
- 2 normal-sized tins of tuna in brine
- 4 large eggs
- Garlic granules or powder (4 good pinches)
- Fish sauce
- Salt
Instructions:
- Start by adding 4 cups of plain or soy flour to a large mixing bowl.
- Add 4 cups of wholemeal bread crumbs to the mixing bowl.
- Add 2/3 cup of dried milk powder to the mixing bowl.
- Add 1 cup of semolina to the mixing bowl.
- Mix all the dry ingredients together.
- For the greens, use 2 cups of frozen chopped spinach. If you can't find frozen spinach, you can use fresh spinach and cook a small amount of it in water until it's fine and chopped. Then strain away the excess water.
- Drain the brine from 2 normal-sized tins of tuna and add the tuna to the mixing bowl.
- Add a few splashes of fish sauce and salt to the mixing bowl.
- Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
- Crack 4 large eggs into the mixing bowl and mix everything together.
- Add 4 good pinches of garlic granules or powder to the mixing bowl and mix everything together again.
- Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- After 4 hours, remove the dough from the refrigerator and knead the dry ingredients into the wet mix. This may take around 5 minutes, but don't rush this step. The dough should be slightly damp to the touch. If it's too dry, add a little bit of water.
- Roll the dough into individual balls, about the size of a marble.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the boilies for around 2 minutes.
- Once cooked, strain off the boilies into a side bowl and tip them onto a kitchen towel to cool and air dry for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, the boilies can be fished with immediately or frozen for up to 6 months.
Homemade boilies are a great option for any angler who wants to catch more carp and catfish. With this recipe, you'll have high-quality boilies that are sure to attract plenty of fish on your next fishing trip.
